Awards and Acknowledgment

Published by recoveryrocks at 8:56 pm under Recovery Edit This

I am not new to recovery from alcoholism, drug addiction, or eating disorders, specifically bulimia, but I am new blogger in the big ol’ blogosphere. I signed up on the self-taught, learn from my mistakes, baptême du feu (baptism by fire) plan.

I appreciate the support from folks who drop by, day after day, drop Entrecards, see if I have written anything worth reading, and leave comments.

Recovery Rocks! has been bestowed the following awards and acknowledgment which I also appreciate.

Thank you, to each of you.

SlogBite LogoRecovery Rocks! was a featured site at Slogbite along with Recovery 101, another Today.com blog about the basics of addiction. Slogbite’s community helps websites and blogs increase site exposure, increase site traffic, and increase site readership.Thank you Slogbite for featuring Recovery Rocks! and supporting the recovery community in the “slogosphere.”

I have not blogged long enough to feel burnt-out on awards or acknowledgements. I still feel encouraged when I receive them, and am passing these along in hopes of encouraging fellow bloggers.

If you aren’t into awards or don’t want to continue the chain, please accept your award in the spirit in which it is offered. There is no pressure to respond.

I Love My LifeI was given the I Love My Life Award by Jessi at Beyond Bulimia . She is s the creator of this award and says:

“We tend to focus on the bad, at least I do, what’s hard, and the things that just don’t go right in our lives. But I believe if we stop and reflect for a minute, even in the midst of all that is wrong, our lives are truly blessed. So take a minute, make a list of at least ten wonderful things in your life, and say, “I LOVE MY LIFE!”

  1. God who never gave up on me, even after I cursed and denied Him. When I first got clean and sober, I believed if there was a God, I didn’t want anything to do with Him, and I was sure He wanted nothing to do with me. For me, “Coming to believe” as expressed in Step Two of Twelve Step programs materialized gradually as I learned how to trust God.
  2. I am clean, sober, and abstinent by the grace of God.
  3. My beautiful daughter who is my pride and joy. I absolutely adore her, and am grateful to be her mother.
  4. My Christian Southern family who gave me the gift of music.
  5. Friends who helped pull me out of the mud.
  6. Writing, my faithful anti-drug. Rudyard Kipling said: “Words are the most powerful drug used by mankind.” I am learning what he meant.
  7. Music, my other faithful anti-drug which rattles the marrow in my bones.
  8. Laughter. I love to laugh. I love people who make me laugh. I love to make people laugh. I love to hear children laugh. I love jellybelly laughs and giggledrop laughs.
  9. Creativity. I love the act of creating, whether it’s crafting an atypical scarecrow to enter a local contest, covering a banger guitar from the flea market with class beads, or pushing my pen as a hack poetess.
  10. The smells of Japanese cherry blossoms, wild sweetheart roses on an Appalachian mountainside, lilacs, honeysuckle, lavender, gardenias, and Cinnabar by Estee Lauder.

I nominate the following blogs for the I Love my Life Award, in random order:

Thank you Beyond Bulimia for the I LOVE MY LIFE AWARD!

Marie Antoinette AwardCaregivingdaughter gave me the Marie Antoinette Award.

How cool to be nominated for an award named after a woman of courage who held her head high her whole life, all the way to the guillotine.

“Courage! I have shown it for years; think you I shall lose it at the moment when my sufferings are to end?” ~Marie Antoinette

“I was a queen, and you took away my crown; a wife, and you killed my husband; a mother, and you deprived me of my children. My blood alone remains: take it, but do not make me suffer long.” ~Marie Antoinette

I nominate the following blogs for the for the Marie Antoinette Award, in random order:

Kreativ Blogger AwardFrom Huskies to Husbands gave me the Kreativ Blogger Award.

For this award I need to list six things that make me happy.

This was challenging as many, many things make me happy. I’m blessed that way.

I have lived in Las Vegas, and at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. I have cowboy boots and stilettos. I’ve been to the opera, and I’ve jammed with snakehandlers in the backwoods. Both experiences were fascinating and made me happy.

I am bi-cultural, both a country girl and a city girl.

At present, my life is simple by design. And I like it this way.

Here’s my Happy List:

  • Watching people grow.
  • Listening to my daughter sing.
  • LIVE music (preferably acoustic slide blues).
  • Finding a Coupe de Ville in the bottom of a box of Crackerjacks.
  • Watching children communicate with American Sign Language.
  • Having enough money to pay all my bills on time.

I pass this award on to these great blogs:

Thank you From Huskies to Husbands for the Kreativ Blogger Award!

Lemonade Award

I was given the Lemonade Award by the bloggers at Beyond Bulimia, From Huskies to Husbands, and Dementia Today.

Friends Award

I was given the Let’s Be Friends Award by Caregivingdaughter

These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to those bloggers who may choose at least 5 more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.

Please check out these Recovery Blogs at Today.com. Here they are in random order:
